We invite you to see together with us the city of Wroc³aw,
the ancient capital of south-western Polish province of Silesia. The city has a very unique history and special atmosphere which evolved during the centuries under the influence of several different cultures. These cultures used to meet (and still do it) just in the area where the city was locatad (and that is why it was located here) and developed. This very convinient location enabled it to become one of the largest and the most rapidly developing cities in Middle Europe in medieval time.

Wroc³aw was:
  • the capital of important Polish Piasts' duchy and one of the first four dioceses in new created Polish state
  • the second (after Prague) largest and important city in the kingdom of Bohemia and one of the reachest and beautiful among the cities of Austrian Habsburgs' empire
  • one of the three capital cities of Prussian kings (as Berlin and Konigsberg).

Wroc³aw, severly destroyed during the siege in 1945, rose from ashes and now is one of the largest cities and most important cultural and science centres in Poland. It is also the only large city in Europe where the population exchanged in whole after the Second World War. However despite of the war catastrophe plenty of precious artifacts from periods of prosperity have preserved and can be seen nowadays. Wroc³aw houses also valuable treasures of Polish culture brought here from former eastern provinces lost for the Soviet Union after 1945 (mainly from the city of Lvov - one of the main cultural and science centres in pre-war Poland, scientists from Lvov who came to Wroc³aw created here new Polish university).

That is why Wroc³aw is really worth seeing place during your trip to Poland. It is as much atractive as Warsaw or Cracow although not as famous yet.
